Yankee's Tavern & Grill

Yankee's Tavern and Grill is located in Carlos, Tx., about an hour-and-a-half northeast of Houston, near College Station. If you take the long way through the Sam Houston National Forest, you will find it to be a great and enjoyable ride winding through the pines.

Yankee's Tavern & Grill sits on eight acres with grass, a big pond, big shady Oak trees and picnic tables all around the outside. There is a large Pavilion with a stage and an outside bar for when there is a big crowd, or a special event. For those of you who like to sit outside, there is also a front porch, a front deck, and also a back deck and 2 sets of bathrooms.

Yankee's normally draws in a real diverse crowd; everything from old school grey beards, to lots of weekend Harley riders….added to this crowd are plenty of sports bikes, Japanese cruisers, and European bikes throughout the parking lot. During the week Yankee gets a pretty good local crowd coming in for lunch and for the Wednesday night Rib-Eye special. The kitchen is open 7 days a week, starting at 11:00 a.m. and closing at 9:00 p.m. The burgers are ½-lb patties with all the trimmings, which are huge and a big hit. It is hard to finish a single cheeseburger and onion rings, so you could imagine trying to put away a 1 pounder which is a double-meat cheeseburger. The food is great!!!!! On Wednesdays, the parking lot is usually full for the Rib-Eye Special, which is a mouth-watering, well marinated rib-eye steak cooked to your liking and a huge baked potato, that is out of this world.

This is Yankee's third venture since he moved here in 1978, from Millinocket, Maine. He had a place at Lake Sommerville, and he still owns the original Yankee's in Snook, TX. called "The Watering Hole". Yankee's Tavern and Grill is a great biker hangout, and it is run by Yankee himself and his wife, Tammy. The atmosphere there is great, full of hospitality and wonderful bartenders, a very home felt place. Yankee bought the place in late "98", when it was just a tin building with a gravel road and woods surrounding the area. Yankee and his friends spent about a year and a half running a backhoe or a dozer getting it ready to open up in 2000. Since then it has continued to expand to where it is now. Yankee's is now a great attraction that people come from hundreds, even thousands of miles to visit. Believe it or not, Yankee's gets a lot of people from Australia and Germany, somehow they hear about it. Yankee's is a very homey type place, from the time you step in the door, you just have a comfortable feeling like you are at home. You can walk around outside and look at all the bikes that come in and if you go out back, you can take a stroll out to the pond and sit on picnic tables and just enjoy the fresh air.

Yankee himself, is the real deal a true biker. His first bike was a Bridgestone, which most people didn't even know they made bikes. Yankee has racked up hundred thousands of miles on his various bikes. He ran the gamut from the beginning on Japanese bikes, to sportster's, pans, shovels, an Evo, a street glide and his most recent a Road Glide.
